Amblygonite is a rare natural colored gem. The color of loose Amblygonite can be yellow, white, grayish white, colorless, bluish, tan, pinkish and greenish. Amblygonite has a hardness of 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale. Amblygonite's name comes from the Greek words for "blunt angles" in allusion to its variously angled cleavages. Gem quality amblygonite is mined in Brazil and Burma, as well as France and the USA. Quite rare and beautiful, Amblygonite is a definitely a collectors gemstone!
